Mukilteo Community Orchestra Announces Season Opening Concert November 16, 2014

Internationally Renowned Concert Pianist Alexander Ardakov Will Be Featured Soloist

The Mukilteo Community Orchestra will open its 2014-15 concert season with a very special concert featuring internationally acclaimed professional pianist Alexander Ardakov performing Tchaikovsky's Piano Concerto No. 1 with the orchestra.

The concert will take place on Sunday, November 16 at 2:00 pm at Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo. The Mukilteo Community Orchestra has paired the Tchaikovsky Piano Concerto No. 1 with Overture on Russian Themes, by Rimsky-Korsakov and Suite for Strings by Leos Janacek.

Mr. Ardakov is returning to the United States this year to perform with the orchestra following his acclaimed performance with the group last fall and audience requests to again feature Mr. Ardakov. He is also offering a very special piano recital on Monday, November 17 at 7:00 pm at the Rosehill Community Center, featuring selected works by Mozart, Chopin, Bach-Busoni, Grieg, and Liszt. Admission is free to both events.

Mr. Ardakov, a graduate of the Moscow Conservatoire, is a Professor of Piano at Trinity College of Music in London. He began his studies of music at the age of seven in Russia and studied at the world famous Moscow Conservatoire. He has won numerous performance prizes, including at the Kabalevsky Piano Competition and the Viotti International Competition in Vercelli, Italy. Until he left Russia in 1991, Mr. Ardakov worked as a soloist and chamber musician with the Moscow State Philharmonia, performing at venues throughout the USSR and abroad. The move to Britain and to Trinity College of Music in 1991 has enabled him to develop as an international recitalist of exceptional versatility and musical integrity.

“We're very excited for the opportunity to again perform with Alexander Ardakov,” said Trevor Lutzenhiser, artistic director and conductor of the Mukilteo Community Orchestra. “Alexander is a world-class pianist and we really appreciate the opportunity to work with him. This is a landmark work for pianists all over the world and a wonderful opportunity for the musicians of the orchestra and community to come together to perform and hear such incredible music. It is an honor for me to be able to conduct this work, perform with such outstanding and absolutely wonderful community musicians and to work with such a brilliant and accomplished soloist. I invite all music-lovers in the community to join us for this performance.”

The concert begins at 2 pm on November 16 at the Rosehill Community Center in Mukilteo, 304 Lincoln Avenue, Mukilteo. Admission is free, and additional information can be found at
